Emergency & Exit Lighting

Critical Importance of Exit and Emergency Lighting

In an emergency or power outage, the proper operation of your exit and emergency lighting becomes crucial. These systems provide essential guidance for safe and quick evacuation, helping to prevent injuries in chaotic situations.

Ensuring Compliance with NFPA 101

Adhering to NFPA 101 regulations is a key aspect of maintaining safety, and our monthly and annual inspections are designed to support you in this effort. By allowing us to handle these inspections, you can focus on running your business, knowing that this vital component of your safety program is well-managed.

Annual and Monthly Inspection Services

Most jurisdictions require two types of inspections for exit and emergency lighting. The first is a monthly visual inspection, including a push-button test to confirm that the lights are operational and correctly positioned, as well as to ensure that the battery will engage when the lights lose power.

The second is an annual inspection, often referred to as a “90-minute test” or “load test,” depending on the region. This inspection verifies whether the backup battery can sustain lighting for the required duration-usually 90 minutes-during an outage or emergency. Both inspections are mandated by NFPA 101, though it’s always wise to consult your local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for acceptable testing methods.
