The U.S. Department of Labor has released detailed 2023 data on over 890,000 workplace injuries and illnesses from more than 91,000 workplaces. This includes specific incident details such as employer name, location, injury/illness descriptions, and causes. The data, submitted via OSHA’s Injury Tracking Application, supports transparency and aims to improve workplace safety. A video overview of the data is also available. The U.S. Department of Labor has finalized a rule requiring that personal protective equipment (PPE) in construction properly fits all workers. This revision aligns construction industry standards with those for general industry, addressing long-standing safety concerns. Improperly sized PPE can be ineffective, create new hazards, and discourage use due to discomfort. The change, supported by employers and unions, aims to ensure better protection for workers, particularly women and those with non-standard sizes.
